The Founding Of The Spiritual Group Emissaries Of Divine Light

In 1932 the Emissaries of Divine Light, a religious group with new age spiritual ideals, came into existence. From those small beginnings the group has now become an international religious community. Emissaries feel that many people are in a state of what they call "spiritual amnesia" but that awakening is possible. These beliefs have brought in individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds over the years. Though the Emissaries of Divine Light has experienced many changes since the 1930's, the group remains a tight knit religious community.

Spirituality centers are locations where the Emissaries of Divine Light meet to become further enlightened regarding their teachings. Individuals interested in finding out more about the religion and their beliefs can visit the communities for varied lengths of time. The Emissaries explain a person's trip there as a unique chance for them to awaken to their own personal divinity. Retreats to Emissary ranches are supposed to help visitors feel purposeful and tranquil so that they can undergo deep personal and spiritual change.

Lloyd Arthur Meeker formed the religious group known as Emissaries of Divine Light in 1932 when he had a profound religious awakening. This revelation led to his writing and teaching many new spiritual concepts in all parts of the United States in an effort to enlighten others to his new realizations of truth. At this pount he left using his given name and instead began calling himself Uranda. He later made a headquarters for his new religious following when he built the Sunrise Ranch in Loveland, Colorado in 1945.

The death of Uranda, or Lloyd Arthur Meeker, in 1954 gave the leadership of the Emissaries over to Martin Exeter, also called Martin Cecil. When he passed away in 1988, leadership of the religious group was changed and is now formed by a group of international trustees. While Emissary communities around the world each manage their own groups, the Spiritual Director of the board of trustees in David Karchere.

Ever since Uranda first formed the Emissaries of Divine Light in 1932, people have come up with lots of different opinions about the group and its beliefs. Some people who were once members of the group but have now left it have made vicious accusations about their activities. Before deciding what you feel about the Emissaries of Divine Light, it is important to consider all the facts and remember to respect people's right to their own religious beliefs.
