Will Toothpaste Whiten My Teeth?
All of us like to have our teeth shining white. However, very few people have them. Most of us have yellowish teeth which gets duller as we age. Also habits such as smoking and foods that we consume such as coffee, tea, wine and certain juices can stain our teeth. Plaque and calculus can deposit on our teeth despite good oral hygiene practices and they leave our teeth unsightly.
Cosmetic dentists can whiten your teeth up to ten shades lighter than your existing color by a process which involves bleaching agents applied on to your teeth. This is a form of cosmetic dental treatment called teeth whitening or bleaching the enamel of your teeth using a chemical gel. Teeth can be whitened either as an office procedure in a dental clinic or there are home-kits which a dentist can prescribe. The home-kit treatment while less expensive than the office procedure can take up to four weeks to achieve results since the bleaching effect is gradual and incremental. In contrast when you get your teeth whitened in a dental office it takes just one sitting to dramatically lighten and brighten your smile.
When you go to the dental office for a teeth whitening procedure the dentist will first check your teeth for any existing problems and treat them. Then a complete and professional cleaning is done to remove any extrinsic stains as well as tartar and plaque before applying the power bleaching agents. The bleaching agents contain concentrated mixture of hydrogen or carbamide peroxide compounds. When applied on your teeth they penetrate the surface and release oxygen which whitens the enamel surface without damaging it.
The teeth tend to change colour because of the different things we put in our mouth and for younger people this tends to be fizzy drinks like cola which have a high level of staining in them. For slightly older people it can drinks and foods like coffee or curries which change the teeth's colour. Either way let us not focus on the negatives but more on the positive elements which include having a bright white smile which looks much better than the dull, stained teeth you have today!
The different tooth whitening techniques - We have split these into home and D.I.Y. products and professional services just so there is no confusion and make the information easier to understand.
DIY
Toothpastes - in the main the only toothpastes that really make the teeth appear whiter are the ones that are slightly gritty as these will help remove any external type staining. Ideally you should use your normal paste most days and once every two weeks use the gritty version to keep the teeth free from external staining.
Mouthwashes - these are new to the market and reportedly whiten the teeth. Today I have not used any of these but theoretically over a period time could help to manage the whitening as the enamel will absorb the mouthwash and whiten.
Strips - these work well for lighter staining or a useful tool for keeping the teeth white after a professional treatment but do not expect the whitest smile with the strips and they need to be used regularly and repeatedly to get best results.
Mouth guards/trays - these are similar to the strips and use a carbomide peroxide which is gentle on the gums and soft tissues and results are similar to the strips.
Professional
Laser whitening - is now very popular because it offers instant results and takes about sixty to seventy minutes in total to complete. This is a powerful and effective method of whitening that gets in to the deep staining to remove the colour from the teeth and reveal a much brighter smile.
Zoom whitening - this is a system that is similar to laser but is performed exclusively by dentists all over the world. The brand was started in the USA and has become a well known whitening brand name.
Power whitening - in the USA power whitening and laser whitening are the same thing. The name has come from the fact is it a powerful way of whitening the teeth without the need for multiple sessions or treatments.
Bleaching trays - after the dentist has made some specially fitted trays to fit around your top and bottom teeth you need to sleep in the trays for fourteen consecutive nights. After the initial program you will have the trays to use for future top up treatments to maintain the whiteness.
To be honest, pantyhose and tights are must-have items in each and every woman's wardrobe, but they do not normally fit the way you are looking. Many are too tight around the waist. Many tend to crawl down from your waist and drop at the crotch whenever you sit or bend over.
Evening your skin tone does not have to mean applying toxic chemicals to your face. A regiment of natural skin lightening products can give you the results your looking for.
Both men and women have skin, so both men and women need to take care of their skin. Men's skin is not more invincible than women's skin, and it needs cleaned and taken care of just as much as women's skin needs proper care. Many men shy away from proper skin care because they think that taking care of their faces and bodies is something feminine or not manly.
Teeth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic services in dental clinics. For this purpose they usually use bleaching agents - typically hydrogen peroxide, to remove spots on the enamel from tea, coffee, red wine and cigarettes. Ultraviolet further intensifies the process of oxidation and thus increases the efficiency of bleaching, but doctors have not found any benefit of this procedure for teeth health.
When your permanent teeth first came out, they were probably much whiter than they are today. However, stained by various substances over the years, such as acidic foods, coffee or smoking, yellow gradient shades on the teeth's surface formed. In a professional teeth whitening treatment, the dentists essentially removes the stain from your teeth's surface, exposing the original whiter shade.
Of all the different types of products, laser teeth whitening products are observed and established to be one of the best as they tend to keep the teeth white for longer periods of time in comparison to other methods.
