Take Yourself as a Friend and Like Yourself

At the beginning of a new year, we can review the year that have passed by and decide what to do to achieve our dreams. But the first thing of all is-to like yourself.

Like yourself, not love, by knowing your own strong points and weak points, treating yourself as a friend, and like the way you are. It’s like in the warm weekends, you go out for an easy walk around the block, go to the restaurants and serve yourself with a big meal, or take a fantastic trip just on your own.

Some people spend so much time waiting to be loved, searching and yearning for the special love. When I didn’t come in time, they feel empty and lost. Actually when people start expecting love from an external source, it is much more difficult to find anything or anybody that can fulfill their void and fantasy, and then they will feel worse than before. So why not start to like yourself, and prepare yourself to love?

Be fully aware of who you are, and be honest to yourself. In a certain relationship, the way you see yourself and treat yourself can reflect how others see you and treat you. Do you think yourself as valuable and worthy of the gift of love? Or just think you are the fifth wheel to your family and your friendship? Do you treat yourself lovingly as a valuable being? And how do you treat others? Do you treat your friends and family members with love? Be aware of yourself is the first and more powerful way of self-acceptance and changing.

Forgive yourself from not being perfect. Think about your friends. You know each others’ good and flaws, sometimes you have words and don’t want to talk with each other for a couple of days, but after that you forgive each other easily. You may say it is not “forgive”; it’s just the way you deal with each other. Then why do you treat yourself so hard? Why not love yourself instead of criticism? Love yourself for all good, and accept your flaws and the fact that you are not perfect. Nobody is perfect. But it doesn’t mean that you don’t have to change from your shortcomings. On the contrary, you just learn to be gentle and kind to yourself even though you have so many flaws.

Let go of the past and worry. It is a horrible way to live a life filled with guilty of the past and constant worry of the future. There are a lot of people close up on themselves out of grief or fear and have a hard time opening back up. Though it is a tough thing, but it’s a time to let go of it. On the other hand, instead of worrying anything to happen, spend time thinking about what you can do to help in the situation can be much more useful. If the situation is beyond your control, ask for help. And “The Secret” about the will is that when you ask the Universe for your desired outcome and let things work out on their own, things will come to be.

Trust yourself and acknowledge your effort. Have you ever notice that when you are trusted by someone, you will strive to do better? Lay more confident in yourself. Know that you have the ability to make important changes for yourself, have confident in your abilities when doing something, or you can also support yourself by visualizing desired outcomes. And whenever something is done, no matter what it is, acknowledge that you have done your best. If it is not the best result that you want, find it out and try to improve it. Many times, to you it is that you have tried your best and what you get from a task that matters.

Find your personal time. Everybody needs personal time that they can nurture a mind that grows more beautiful by the day. They can enjoy their life hanging out with friends, and they can also stay along with themselves, growing spiritually. It helps people become more peaceful, connected, kind, loving and compassionate.
