A Motor Trade Policy is Imperative for all Motor Trade Businesses

If you're thinking of going into the motor trade industry, then it is imperative that you get some form of trade insurance, having insurance in place applies to everyone who works within the motor trade industry. So it doesn't matter if you carry on the business from your own home, or if have a significantly large car dealership. Depending on what type of insurance you take out, is more than possible to obtain cover for any vehicles concerned with your business, whether this is on a long-term basis or short-term basis.

Normally most of the policies that will be offered to you will give you cover for any drivers, but saying this there are some age restrictions, and most insurance companies will not cover anyone who is under the age of 25. Yet if you have an employee who is under the age of 25 and you wish them to be named on the policy then there are insurance companies who offer this service. But you will have to bear in mind that the insurance company will increase the size of the premium you have to pay, and possibly increase the excess amount on your policy.

The insurance policies are more or less the same that you would have on private car insurance, there is the basic and least expensive cover of third-party only. Moving up another level is third-party fire and theft that then just leaves the most extensive cover of fully comprehensive insurance. Whatever insurance you opt for it will cover all types of vehicles that you use in the course of your business, whether it is a van or truck or for that matter a motor bike. If you have a business where you offer your customers the facility of a courtesy car whilst you are repairing their car, you will be able to get your policy extended to make sure cover is in place for this situation.

Whilst having a motor trade policy in place is fundamental, you might like to look at extending this policy a little bit further and look at the benefits of having a combined policy. This is often a very attractive policy for people within the motor trade industry, as this will provide cover for liability and buildings. It will also cover you for possessions and any specialist tools and equipment that you might have on the premises.

As you will be able to choose the limit on a combined motor trade policy, you will see that you could include such things as employer's liability and for loss of earnings should something happen that stops you from carrying out your business. The other benefit of course to having a combined policy is that all your insurance concerns will be covered by one renewal date, so this will take the headache away of having to remember several renewal dates during the year. You will find many insurance brokers will be able to offer you this kind of policy.
