Save Money With Fleet Insurance

No matter what size business you have, a major investment will be the vehicles that you have in your fleet. A fleet's size can be from as few as two vehicles, whether cars or commercial vehicles of some description. You cannot afford to have any down time due to an accident or breakdown. Protection for your business should include Fleet Insurance.

It is a very necessary policy to have. All of the vehicles in your fleet are covered under the one policy. The vehicles can be a mixture of cars, vans, motorcycles and lorries. They can all be on the one specially tailored policy. Families with more than one vehicle to insure, typically five or more, can also benefit from fleet insurance.

A standard insurance policy for your fleet will provide cover for drivers over 25 years of age who have held a full UK license for two years or more. If you wish to have cover for younger or less experienced drivers you will pay a higher premium. Of course, as with any insurance policy, all drivers must declare their driving history including any convictions and claims. The drivers must have the correct licence for the type of vehicle they will be driving.

Your policy can have a mixture of cover including fully comprehensive, third party fire and theft and third party cover only.

Usually all drivers can drive any of the vehicles in the fleet. Insuring multiple vehicles works out cheaper than having individual policies for each vehicle. There is also the administration factor. One policy means only one renewal date to remember. Of course, you'll need to remember to budget for the premium!

If you need to amend your policy, for instance a change in vehicles or drivers, just make a request. Any adjustments to the premiums are then made. Most insurers will make it easy enough for you.

If your business is to carry goods, don't forget about having goods in transit insurance as well. You need to be covered for loss due to theft or accident. Goods in transit cover may or may not be included in your policy. Being able to advertise that you have goods in transit cover could be reassuring for customers.

Having fleet insurance helps with overall risk management, and as a consequence can lead to lower premiums. It is a protection for you in the event of an accident or breakdown. It protects not only your business and vehicles, but also other motorists who may be involved in an accident and may have a liability claim against you.

Some feature of a good fleet insurance policy to look for would be:

1. Emergency medical expenses coverage
2. Cover for the Continent
3. Windscreens covered
4. Direct debit payments
5. Like for like vehicle replacement on no fault claims
6. 24/7 handling of claims
7. Any available driver covered
8. Transfer of no claims bonus to fleet rating

Take a look on-line. There are many fleet insurance specialists who will give you a quote. So whether you have a fleet of taxis, tippers or haulage lorries, there are policies that can be tailored to your needs.
