The Different Types Of Minibus Insurance You Can Choose From

The stringent and clear guidelines floated by governments in different countries about what constitutes a minibus and making minibus insurance mandatory has been welcomed by the users of minibuses and the general public as well.

There have been many cases of these minibuses and minivans involved in accidents and in most cases, the owners of these vehicles have not bothered to take vehicle insurance. Reasons given have ranged from lack of awareness about which one to take, reluctance to spend money on premium and in some cases total apathy towards insurance.

This has led to many passengers, drivers and even the public on the roads getting inconvenienced as they have had to pay for their medical expenses. The entrepreneurs running these vehicles for offering pick up and drop services have also suffered equally. They have had to spend on the repair of the vehicles and suffer the monetary loss of the affected vehicles being off the roads. When added up, they represented an amount far greater than the premium amount they would have spent. This has now been recognised by them and they are now taking the right policy suiting their businesses.

These rules have made it clear that any vehicle with a carrying capacity of 9-16 passengers would be considered as a minibus. If a vehicle is consistently carrying a higher or lower number of passengers, then it would have to take insurance of a different kind.

As is the case with other vehicle insurance policies, the minibus insurance policy too has different types to it. The first one is the comprehensive coverage wherein your vehicles are protected from all kinds of risks including but not limited to theft, fires, vandalism, accidents and soon. This is a policy where the premium cost is the highest, though you can bring it down.

This can be done by demonstrating the security systems you have installed in your vehicles, the care you have taken to recruit drivers with a flawless driving history track record, providing a secure parking place for the vehicles and so on.
Then you have a policy that covers only specific risk instances such as fire, theft, accidents and this is something you can choose. The premium rate is lower for this type of policy. There are many who prefer this policy as they only want the main risk factors covered.

The last one is the third party liability policy and this has a premium that is the lowest. This is something you cannot avoid as it has been made legally compulsory in order to protect any third party involved in an accident.

Then there are minibus insurance policies based on the purpose for which the vehicles are going to be used. There is a multipurpose policy that covers passenger injuries, cargo damages, thefts and so on. The other type is a more restricting one that only covers passengers. This is a cheaper one and is preferred by vehicle owners only ferrying passengers.

Minibus insurance policy types are easy to understand and you can easily choose one suiting your business.
