Use Flight Simulators for Everything From Checkride to 747 Training

Whether you want to get a boost for your Checkride training or prepare for your advanced airliner cockpit training sessions and examinations, flight simulators can be very helpful. And the good news for private pilots adding Instrument Rating to their certificate is that the FAA allows pilots to apply as many as 20 instructor-led flight simulator hours as credit toward this instrument rating. There are even Boeing 747 training manuals and Boeing 757 training manuals which can be used in conjunction with simulators to augment more advanced levels of training.

If the FAA allows you to use a flight simulator to log instrument training time in lieu of time spent in an actual aircraft, then it must be a pretty good type of program. The fact of the matter is that software engineers know how to create everything from Checkride training to Boeing simulator programs that actually replicate the real deal experience. Flight simulator software designers have been able to replicate the behavior and performance of an actual aircraft down to the tiniest details, so things like instrument training really do work.

Of course, if you’re doing your Being 757 training, you can’t just expect to use a flight simulator to make up for a complete lack of time in the cockpit. You have to do the required number of hours per the FAA regulations to qualify for this type of piloting. You can’t experience the sensations of movement that could otherwise deceive you and cause spatial disorientation during certain maneuvers such as climbs, turns and descents. But during your Boeing 747 training, you can make sure you are as prepared as possible and make the time you spend in the cockpit more efficient by doing supplementary training in a flight simulator.

Whether you’re doing your instrument training or getting ready to learn to fly a large commercial airliner, flight simulators can really come in handy.
