I have owned 3 landies in my time, the first a 1985 110 County Station-wagon, the 2nd a 1973 Series 3 Military Lightweight, and the final one, a 1955 Series One which I never got on the road and ended up selling.
The Land-rover is a flagship of the British car industry and have been rolling out of the factory since the 1940's. They are a great vehicle for off-roading in or just to pass the time cruising around with the canvas top removed.
The really great thing about them is that they are very easy to work on, built like tanks, and remarkably cheap to ensure, particularly the older models. One of the negative points about the old 2.25 litre petrol models is that they are a little juicy on the gas. I moved to the other side of the world where the trusty Land-rover is not that common. I really miss them. The good news is that I am returning to England later this year and will buy one again.
