Google Page Rank: The Mystery to Increasing it – Solved
It is touted as the best search engine on the internet and who can argue. Google receives millions of hits per day from people looking to type in certain words in the hopes of finding web sites that can offer people what they are looking for.
Google uses a top secret algorithm to determine which sites get returned and in what order. Through the process of the page rank each site has a ranking from zero to ten and the higher that number the higher a website will appear in search results.
The key is to increase your website’s page rank. At first glance it may seem like a daunting task to get your site ahead of the billions of other websites out there. But here are some techniques that you can use that will help.
The first thing you can do is swap links with “like kind” websites, where “like kind” are websites similar in content to your own. For example if you sold power tools, a “like kind” website would be one that sells woodworking plans. You get the idea. Swapping links is the process by which you contact a website owner and ask them to put a link on their website that points back to your website and in return you will do the same for you. Google looks favorably upon websites that have links pointing back to them. The more links you swap the better off you will be.
Swapping links is great, but there is not better link then the “one way” link. This is a link where a website points back to your site not because you are pointing to theirs but because they are trying to tell their own visitors to go take a look at your site. One way links carry a lot of weight in the Google algorithm especially if they come from websites with a higher page rank value than your own. The best way to build one way links is to write informative and educational articles about your website and post those articles in article directories. Bloggers pick up these articles and syndicate them with a link pointing back to your website. The more helpful the article is the more likely it will be picked up.
Finally, your website should have valuable keywords related to what ever it is about. If you sell power tools, make sure the descriptions of those tools are clear and concise. So if someone is looking for a specific table saw, and you sell it, but your description does not have that information in there, it will never appear on the search listing. Make sure you are very descriptive. You could also add content to your own website as well as a message board for customers to discuss your products. Both of these create even more keywords for your website that Google will index as search terms for your site.
Using a combination of all of these tips above will go a long way in helping your website increase it’s Google Page Rank and of course its popularity. It takes time to move up the search engine ladder so to speak, so do not get discouraged if you are not a PR9 in a couple months.
