During one summer night two twin baby girls were mauled in their sleep by a fox which climbed in through a window that had been left open to keep their room cool during a hot summer night. The attack as prompted London Mayor Boris Johnson to come out and say that local councils should 'focus on their duties for pest control'. The mother of the children Pauline Koupparis found the tots looking 'like something from a horror movie' after the mauling and described it as 'like a living nightmare'.
It is thought that the fox crept in through a ground floor door that was left open because of the hot weather while Mrs Koupparis and her husband Nick watched Britain's Got Talent on television.
After the attack on the children they couple hired pest controllers to set fox traps in their back garden. After a fox was found in one of the devices it was humanely destroyed by a vet.
In an article in The Independent Mayor Boris spoke in favour of fox control. 'Councils should focus on their duties regarding pest control' he said.
