Studies show that when schools that once allowed street clothes made the switch to uniforms, attendance at school increased, and negative behavioral issues like stealing and vandalism decreased. When everyone is required to wear the same clothes, no one stands out from the crowd, and this allows students to focus on education, rather than fashion pursuits. Most private schools are safer because of the reduced competition among classmates and the smaller classes that promote more of a family atmosphere.
A con of private schools is that it can be very difficult for candidates to get into the institution. The more expensive the school, the more rules are generally in place for who gets selected for admission. Most students have to undergo rigorous testing, and parents are also put under the microscope, because certain private schools only cater to certain groups of people. For this reason, many feel that some private schools discriminate against middle and lower class families.
Parents must take all of these factors into consideration before enrolling their children in private school. After carefully researching the school, if you can afford the tuition, like the setting and teachers, and can transport your kids, private school might be the best choice for you. The key is picking a school that your children will enjoy and feel the most comfortable attending so that they can get the best possible education.
