Relax And Enjoy All That Essex Has To Offer

Visitors may arrive by car or they may fly in to Stanstead Airport (leave the crowds at Heathrow behind). There are plenty of opportunities to shop, tour historic places or just lay out and relax by the seaside. Whether you have only a day or can stay for a week, there is plenty to see and do in Essex.

The approximate 1.6 million people that call Essex County home come from diverse backgrounds. They live in country homes and city apartments. Many commute to London for work. Good schools and lots of open space make it ideal for children. Tourists and other visitors to the area can enjoy Essex as well.

The seaside/beach area is a great place to visit if you want to take a dip in the waters or just get some sun. Children can play in the sand and many areas have piers that feature amusement rides. A few of the more popular places are Clacton-on-the-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze.

Clacton-on-the- Sea is a lovely seaside town that has many tree-lined streets. The beach is a great place to spend a Sunday and maybe participate in some water sports. You can have a picnic, read a book or just do nothing but inhale the refreshing sea air. A 19th century pier offers rides you might find at any fairground and there is also opportunity to cast your line and hook a big fish or two. If you are in to shopping, there are some great and diverse shops at the Town Centre or you might try finding a bargain at the Clacton Factory Outlet.

Walton-on-the-Naze is a family seaside resort with plenty to keep both children and parents occupied. The large sandy beaches and beautiful seafront gardens are key features. The area also boasts the second longest pier in all of England. Walk the narrow streets and browse in to some of the shops. Go for a bite to eat and enjoy a pleasant day in this seaside area of Essex.

Well, a day at the beach is not necessarily the first choice of every visitor to Essex. There are many other activitie to occupy your time. Besides taking in the beauty of the land and maybe doing a little walking, hiking or exploring, there areplaces to see and places to be while in Essex.

One of the fun things for many people is to go antique shopping. The Battlesbridge Antiques Center has a unique setting along the banks of the River Crouch. Set out like a small village, a number of buildings, connected by walking paths form the Centre. More than 80 Dealers will buy or sell antiques, crafts and collectables. It's a great place to find out about an old clock or family heirloom as there are expert appraisers on site. Open 7 days per week, there is ample parking and they do serve refreshments.

Other things to do include visiting some historic buildings. In Chelmsford, take a tour of Hylands House and see the Chelmsford Cathedral. If you like arts & crafts, you'll love spending the day at the Blake House Craft Centre in Braintree. There are castles and there are guided tours of haunted houses to occupy some of your time. Whether you want to do a little or a lot, you'll enjoy your visit to Essex. Milsomhotels.com – Essex Hotels
